FOR many years there was an unofficial link between Long Lane and Crammavill Street in Stifford Clays.
The unadopted right of way, ran close to the former Elizabeth House care home.
On Thursday (23 February) two local councillors enjoyed walking the new-look path for the first time.
Stifford Clays councillors, Diana Hale and Angie Gaywood wanted to mark the re-opening of the footpath which now has been properly made up to standard by developers of the Hanover Housing Association Elizabeth Gardens development Bramall Construction.
“When Elizabeth House’s replacement, Elizabeth Gardens, was in the planning stage I had to fight hard to ensure the land was still owned by the council and that the well-used pathway would be restored when it was safe to do so.
“Today was the day,” said Cllr Hale.

Dear Cllr Anderson and your fellow Conservative Councillors please take note of this press release from two Labour Councillors.
No whinging or moaning. No bitching or complaining. Just good positive news of the work two Labour Councillors are doing in their community.
May I suggest to Cllr Anderson, instead of his monthly moans, he and his fellow Councillors issue press releases explaining to us residents what good they are actually doing in the community?
The Conservatives are getting the reputation for being the moaning party in Thurrock. Give us some good news for a change and beter still, as elections are just months away, give us your policies for a better Thurrock?
