Stevenage 4 – Thurrock 2
Last time round Thurrock beat Stevenage 2 – 0 so this was always going to be a tough fixture. Thurrock started off the slower of the two teams conceding 3 early goals but things started to look brighter when Thurrock’s Andre Rudder, Kyle Taylor and Dan O’Shaughnessy started to dominate the midfield and some week worked play allowed Steven Abbott to claw one back, the fight was on! Thurrock continued to press and with an excellent run from Dec Millane who put Man of the match Steve Abbott through then passed to Jacob Agoro to score in the empty net.
Soon after Stevenage hit Thurrock on the attack and with some sloppy defending they scored half time 4-2. The second half Thurrock kept pressing but couldn’t convert any of there great opportunities. As the game went on Thurrock defended strong, so strong with a bad tackle Nick Stapleton got rushed to hospital with a Broken Knuckle, Dec Millane then also picked up a injury and just to top it off Gary Ginzo got sin binned for a bad tackle. A bad day all round. Next week Thurrock face old Southendians.
