Witnesses sought after man knocked down on Aveley

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a road collision at Aveley.

Officers were called at 9.32am on Saturday March 3 to the B1335 Aveley Bypass near the entrance to Belhus Park leisure centre after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a van.

The pedestrian, a local man aged in his 50s, was taken to Queens Hospital Romford with head injuries. The vehicle involved was a white Iveco box van.

Police closed the road until about 1pm while initial investigations were carried out.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the circumstances leading to the collision, should contact the Chigwell Road Policing Unit on 101.
