Man critical after serious assault in Stanford-le-Hope

DETECTIVES in Thurrock are investigating following an assault in Church Hill Stanford Le Hope on March 2, which has left the victim with a serious head injury.

Around 10.30pm on March 2 the ambulance service were called to treat a 24 year old man with assault injuries. Witnesses have told police that he had been walking along Church Hill towards the train station and was opposite the Rising Sun pub when two men got out of the back of a light-coloured Ford Focus and one of them punched the man, who fell to the ground. The suspects, both white, one described as 6ft and dark haired and the other blonde haired, then got back in the car and drove off.

The victim, from East Ham, was taken to Basildon University Hospital was treated and later discharged himself. However police were informed on Sunday, March 4, that he had been taken ill and re-admitted to a London hospital with a serious head injury and is described as critical, but stable.

Detectives at the South Serious Crime Team want to hear from anyone who recognises the description of the men in the car. Dc Tanya Bailey also wants to hear from anyone who knows where the victim was between 7.30pm and the incident (around 10.30pm) he is believed to have been in the Stanford le Hope area. The victim is described as wearing all black; black shirt, jacket, trousers and shoes. He is white and medium build and 5ft 11ins tall with short dark hair.
