Orsett teenager fined after assaulting nurse

AN ORSETT teenager has landed herself a criminal record after attacking a nurse in an accident and emergency unit.

Zoe Kimmings had to be restrained by police after striking and swearing at A&E nurse Katrina Ahmet in Colchester General Hospital on January 21 reports the EADT.

Kimmings, 19, of High Road, Orsett pleaded guilty to assault on February 2. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

Kimmings was taken to A&E by an emergency ambulance because she was extremely drunk. She said she was upset about a serious illness that had affected her mother.

Mrs Ahmet, 44, spent an hour comforting her in a side room at the end of which Kimmings forcefully elbowed her in the upper arm and began shouting.

Mrs Ahmet said: “I’ve got a daughter of 18 and at first I actually felt a bit sorry for Zoe Kimmings.

“Then I thought that my own mother has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s but I don’t go around hitting people.

Kimmings has since written a letter to Mrs Ahmet to apologise for her behaviour.

  1. I hope they also charged her for the ambulance call out, people who get drunk and use up emergency services to ferry them to and from hospital should be charged the full amount that it costs the NHS to supply two Ambulance Techs/Parameds, and the ambulance with fuel, no sympathy for these people at all….
