Thurrock 2 v 0 Dorchester Town
Blue Square Bet South
Bill Robinson reports from Ship Lane….
It has taken a long time but on their eighteenth attempt Thurrock finally secured a Home league win.
Looking the better side from the start they pushed The Magpies back into their own half for the greater part of the half, breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute.
Teddy Nesbitt opening his Thurrock account with a fine volley from just inside the 18 yard box sending the ball into the top of the net.
Thurrock continued to look in control allowing only a few breaks from the visitors but they never really threatened debutant keeper Ross Kitteridge.
HT 1-0
Thurrock needing to add another goal to try and secure the game and they extended their lead in the 59th minute when Lee Boylan converted a penalty kick which was awarded when Mark Jermyn was judged to have pushed Boylan when challenging for a cross from Teddy Nesbitt.
Thurrock continued to look good for their lead and Dorchester looked a beaten side.
So when the final whistle came it must have been a tremendously and justified relief for manager Lee Goodwin to get his first win, but is it to late for this season with only eight games remaining and still bottom with a huge gap to safety.
