Jean Benson, of Crouch Road, Chadwell St Mary, has been fined £400 and ordered to pay £993 costs after she was found guilty in her absence of allowing her dog to foul the footpath and failed to clear it up.
Fifty-six-year-old Benson was issued with a fixed penalty notice after her dog was seen to foul the footpath in Thames Drive, Chadwell St Mary in October last year. She failed to pay the fine and was summoned to appear at court.
On Monday (2 April) she failed to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court for the second time and the case was proved in her absence.
Thurrock Council’s Head of Public Protection, Lucy Magill, said: “Dog fouling is one of the things our communities complain about most.
“It is unpleasant and dog owners must take responsibility for their pets and — as this case proves — we will take action against those that don’t.”
Reports of dog fouling should be made to the Thurrock Community Protection Team on 01375 652211.

It is about time the council did more of this, it is not just on the streets but in nearly every park in the area, those who have a dog need to take responsibility for their fouling, it is disgusting in some areas, oh and yes I am a dog owner but would never dream of just leaving their mess behind.
hooray,great news.
The court has to get the fine from her first!
