IT WAS standing room only at Brandon Groves community centre in South Ockendon as the labour leader, Ed Miliband issued a rallying call to the Labour faithful.

Mr Miliband spent almost two hours at the specially arranged question and answer session as he implored Thurrock Labour to take overall control in the local elections on May 3rd.

After the session, YT spoke to Mr Miliband about a number of themes in a fasting moving political news agenda.

  1. Just watched this video..excuse me for a moment while I just go to chuck!!! We already have a labour run council that is as good as useless. I have not seen any labour candidates (either now or previously at voting times). Labour would have earned SOME respect if they had got rid of Master Kiely (the invisible man) . I am an ordinary housewife whose life has been made better with the hard work that Amanda and Lynn have given me. There are many like me that have been the receivers of their very hard work. I am not politically minded but do judge people by their very hard work they put in. From a person that has voted labour all her life this is very high praise. Labour needs to put their nose to the grindstone and do what they were elected to do. I rest my case!!!!!!

  2. De-ja-vu, last year it was only Balls and Livingstone, they must be really desperate to get Thurrock back and would appear to have more than a passing interest in Ockendon!!!! as they have definately pulled in the “a” list this year, alas it cannot hide the fact that all the support given to Cllr Kiely last year has left the people of Ockendon high & dry, and has left the council chamber one short . sorry Mr Miliband dont think we will fall for it again!!!!!

  3. The people of Ockendon are not stupid and as I said in a previous post on another Ockendon related article – the last thing they will do is vote for another Kiely-esque councillor regardless of who comes down from Labour HQ to bombard the residents.

  4. Just a thought! was Cllr Kiely in attendance, or has he been barred from “closed labour meetings”?

  5. More political posturing by a Labour Party Leader who is weaker than any that have served before him, he talks about unemployment going up and the standard of living going down, yet again we see a labour politician in denial, all those happened under the previous labour government so nothing has changed and nothing will ever change until some government gets on top of the mass immigration into the UK and the hand in hand war mongering with the USA.

For Milliband to chose Ockendon to preent his vision for Thurrock is an absloute joke concidering the inactivity of the local Labour councillor.

Until Labour start smelling the coffee and pulling better policies that will help everyone whilst balancing the books, which is something Labour have failed to do, then they cannot be the party of choice.

  6. I think the Labour lot need Miliband for their own EGO, they ccertainly have done nothing for the residents and they all know it. millibands appearence at Brandon Groves will at least make the Curtis,s feel important, sad really. As Flower said she has always been a Labour supporter as have I but, no more. In all my life I have never seen such a lazy bunch. What gets me they have’nt got a clue what a councillor’s position entails. I hope they do not come to my door, then again they never have.
