POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Grays in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident took place on Dock Road, at the junction with St Mary’s Close at about 1am. A silver Ford Mondeo collided with a post. No other vehicles were involved.
The road was closed for a number of hours to allow officers to investigate the collision scene, with minimal disruption caused to local residents.
The driver – a 19-year-old man from Stanford Le Hope – was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
Two teenage girls who were travelling in the car have been arrested. A 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, while a 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of allowing to be carried in a stolen vehicle. Enquiries continue in respect of the circumstances around the collision.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle in or around the area of the collision. Anyone with information should contact Grays police station on 101.
Three in hospital following Grays entrapment RTC
The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) was called to an RTC in Dock Road, Grays, just after 1am today, and two ambulances and a rapid response car were sent to the scene.
At least one patient, a man believed to be in his early 20s was trapped in the vehicle. He had suffered serious injuries to his head, arm and pelvis.
He was treated by ambulance crews and taken to Basildon Hospital.
Two further patients had injuries which not believed to be serious. They too were treated at the scene and taken to Basildon Hospital.
