TOWIE STAR. Kirk Norcross was rescued by fire officers in dramatic scenes at his father Mick’s house in Orsett.

Fire broke out at 2pm on Tuesday afternoon at Manor House Farm on the Brentwood Road in Bulphan.

Firefighters gave oxygen therapy to Kirk after he suffered the effects of smoke inhalation when a fire broke out in the bathroom.

The officer in charge reported that the fire was contained to the bathroom of the house. Firefighters had extinguished the fire by 15:38hrs using one hose reel jet. They then used a powered saw and axes to cut away the ceiling to make sure that no hot-spots remained in the roof void.

Firefighters had completed their work at the scene by 16:15. The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service.

Assistant Divisional Officer Tony Clark said: “The fire appears to have been started accidentally by a pile of towels stacked on a shelf too close to a down-lighter in the ceiling.

“The man had inhaled some smoke and was given oxygen therapy by firefighters and then checked over by ambulance crews. By the time we left the scene he seemed to be OK.”

Kirk later commented on his twitter page, kirkofficial

“Dramas!!!! Got woke up to my dads house on fire! Tried my best to put it out..thanks mr fireman for saving my life! X”
