All Saints@the beacon opened its doors in the spring of 2008 and has since then become something of a hub at the centre of the community.
Fr Alex Gowing -Cumber is not your typical parish priest. However as a 40 year old disabled Goth he ticks many boxes when it comes to cultural diversity, and as a christian is committed to a message that all people irrespective of gender, sexuality, ethnicity ,disability etc are of equal worth.
Building on the success of the diversity day in 2010, where people from so many diverse background were bought together to explore unfamiliar territory and celebrate common ground, the 16th of June will see the second diversity day which will be bigger and more challenging than the first.
Please contact father Alex on 07786 652286 if you would like to involve yourself or your group on the day, or you are able to offer an attraction or skills or equipment wich could help us.
All Saints will be working in partnership with the Women’s Institute, Inspiration Youth Call, and 106 squadron air training core, to deliver this event.
Fr Alex said: “We are very grateful for the support of Thurrock Council and especially its diversity team who have been able to offer a significant amount of money to help the event go smoothly.
“Events will start around mid day culminating in the street party around 6pm. During the party awards will be given to young people who have shown inspirational qualities or leadership within the local community.
“Throughout the day there will be plenty of food, stalls and side shows. This is a huge opportunity to grow as a whole community, change our mindsets and celebrate life.”
