IF THERE was ever a depiction of a loving grand-father then it will be Orsett Heath’s Ken Moore, who passed away last week, aged 74. Over the last few years, Ken would come to the Grays Athletic games with his grandson, Lewis. He absolutely adored football made Lewis and encouraged him to play and learn about the game.

The club were also good enough to sing happy birthday to Treetops student Lewis earlier in the season.
Ken was born in Godstone in Surrey in 1938. He was an only child. He was educated at Gravesend Grammar School.
Much of his working life was at sea as an Oil Inspector. Ken travelled the world but was mainly employed in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
He met his wife, Sylvia, in Tilbury, when she was working as a secretary at the Merchant Navy.
Ken was a great fan of Thurrock rugby but he was also a keen bowler. The bowls club lowered their flag to half mast last week.
Ken’s funeral will be held in Epping next Tuesday May 8th.

RIP Ken.
He was a top man.
The minute’s silence at our game on Saturday was a fitting tribute.
I hope Lewis is still able to get to our matches.
RIP Ken
