Diamond Jubilee road closures

THURROCK looks set to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style between Saturday 2 June and Tuesday 5 June.

Dozens of neighbourhoods have contacted the council seeking road closures — and that does not include those who will be having parties in small plots of land close to their homes, sheltered complexes and so on.

Thurrock Council has made the bureaucracy of closing a road or street as simple as possible and all those who have already applied are being offered the free use of cones and “road closed” signs — with a returnable deposit.

On the Saturday and Sunday, Thames Road, Manor Way and Conway Gardens, Grays, will be closed for T-Fest and on Sunday (between 11.45am and 12.30pm) Sherfield Road and Argent Street, Grays will close for the Sparks Will Fly carnival parade.
