THIS year will be a celebratory year for the UK between the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics: we don’t want the fun to stop and why should it? In the run up to the Olympics and the summer holidays, Thurrock will host its first international film festival.

From classic feature films to talks to workshops, even the chance to take in the best of today’s most promising filmmakers, you are guaranteed to find something to suit your film tastes.
The (TIFF) invites all members of the public to attend the family friendly festival with functions happening throughout the week. TIFF begins June 24th and concludes June 30th. There will be workshops & seminars discussing film censorship and cinema history. Danish Film ‘ The Good Life’ will have its British premiere at the festival and will be shown on Monday June 25th at the Vue Cinema in Thurrock.
The festival gives a platform for upcoming filmmakers to showcase their talent and to also give the next generation a deeper insight into the world of film. With celebrity guests well known in the world of film and television, such as, Thor and The Book of Eli star Ray Stevenson and Emmerdale actress Pauline Quirke who have pledged their support to the festival as celebrity judges, it is certainly an event not to be missed.
As well as showcasing new talent it’s just as important to re-live classic films such as Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade and The Wizard Of Oz, which will be specially screened in selected theatres in Thurrock.
The Thurrock International Film Festival is an event that will not be ruined by the traditional English weather, as all of the events throughout the week will be held inside.
