HORNDON’s second string continued their fine run of form with a 10 wicket victory over Old Brentwoods on Saturday. Batting first Old Brentwoods were restricted to 172 all out. Bradley Mason picked up another six wickets to bring his SNEL season total to 30 wickets from seven games and remain leading wicket taker in the SNEL. Mark Wills finished with 3-31 and skipper Lewis Crooks 1-17. Keeper Connor Hammond also achieved a personal best of four stumpings off the bowling of Bradley Mason.
In reply Horndon never looked in any trouble with Dave Stitson recording his second undefeated century in consecutive weeks with 117 not out. Connor Hammond rounded off a fine all round performance with an unbeaten 48.
The win consolidates Horndon’s lead at the top of the SNEL 2nd XI Division 3 to 26 points over second placed Basildon & Pitsea.
