SATURDAY AND SUNDAY June 30th and July 1st, saw many community groups in Purfleet coming together to celebrate, which saw over 300 visitors celebrating the great work that the people of Purfleet do.
There were many educational and fun activities available for families to enjoy and many visitors came away saying ” The atmosphere was just wonderful; everyone had a smile on their face and my children had such a brilliant time”.
Starting at 10.30am at Purfleet Heritage Centre, guests could hear old time WWI and II songs, get their face painted, enjoy rifle shooting and listen to the “Bubble in Christ” gospel singers.
The Purfleet Children’s Centre were on hand to take visitors (by mini bus) to High House Production Park where they saw performances by TipToe Stage School in “Wot Lark’s” and take part in flag making.
It was also the first time Purfleet had held a two mile fun run, which was organised by Purfleet Runners with over 20 runners taking part.
The Riverside Children Centre had art & crafts activities for all ages and Purfleet Primary School displayed all the poetry they created called “Bullies Not Welcome” . This has been turned in to a book that can be purchased.
Festivities finished at 5pm on the Community Green where the fun continued with fun fair rides, Zumba dancing lessons and bug box making treasure hunt with the RSPB. Vitality were also on hand giving free health checks.
Special thanks should go to all the volunteers including the Purfleet Community Flat, The Purfleet Community Forum, Children’s Centres, Heritage Centre, High House Production Park, the RSPB and St. Stephen’s Church.
