Ice cream man attacked at Grays Beach Park

THREE people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two men and a woman were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, July 26, 2012 after police were called to reports of a 29-year-old man being assaulted off Thames Road in Grays the previous day.

Officers were called just before 1.30pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 and arrived to find the man from Tottenham in north London with head, arm and leg injuries.

The victim was airlifted to Romford’s Queens Hospital where he is currently in a stable condition.

An ice-cream van was damaged in the attack. A forensic examination of the scene was carried out and it is believed the assault follows an ongoing dispute between the victim and his attackers.

A 48-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman from Great Warley and a 23-year-old man from South Ockendon are currently in custody and being questioned.

Anyone with information in connection with this assault is urged to contact detectives at Grays police station on 101.

  1. What sort of a world are we now living in where violence of this extreme is becoming so common, I sincerely hope that the individuals involved in this attack are dealt with to the full power of the law and serve sentences that reflect the crime; however, in our failing justice system I very much doubt they will get more than a slap on the writs, this is where the deterrents are failing.
