Erith 1 v 4 Grays Athletic

GRAYS enjoyed a far from taxing work out against Erith FC at Avenue Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Kent premier league team started off well.

James Bunn got his first start and was straight into his stride. In the 11th minute Jake Hall put a corner over, Junior Baker headed into the net but the referee adjudged that there was an infringement.

In the 15th minute, A Bunn dummy let Hall in again but his shot was well smothered by the keeper.

But Jake Hall made no mistake in the 17th minute when a cross was gently lofted into the area and, un-marked he was able to head home.

Junior Baker made it 2-0 in the 19th minute as he banged the ball home from close range.

You started to feel for the Kent side.

Jake Hall is a mercurial talent and was involved in a slight altercation with a Erith midfielder. Although not his fault, you do worry that his temper could cost Grays during the season.

Grays made it 3-0 in the 36th minute when Leon Lalite, from outside the box curled the ball over the keeper.

The second half was somewhat low-key. Grays were happy to play possession football, bring on a number of subs and use the game as an extended workout whilst their counterparts worked hard to keep the score respectable.

Ryan Maxwell made it four in the 73rd minute but Erith got one back with a fine individual run.

Grays Ath: Johnson L, Bunce D, Kirby R, Baker J, Lalite L, Pope C, Carlos J, Bunn J, Beaney K, Hall J, Matthews L
