Tragedy as Tilbury Band member plunges to death from Tate Modern

A MEMBER of the Tilbury Brass Band died last week after he fell from a fifth floor balcony at the Tate Modern in the South Bank in London.

He was named after an inquest into his death was opened at Southwark Coroners Court.

Michael Foreman, 48, had been reported missing on Monday 23rd July reports the Daily Telegraph.

Mr Foreman played trombone for the Tilbury Band.

In a statement on their website, the Band said: “It is with deepest sadness that Tilbury Band announce the death of Michael Foreman, trombonist and long-serving member of the band.

Our heartfelt sympathies go to Michael’s wife Janet and his parents Steve and Margaret.

“Michael’s funeral will take place at Corbets Tey crematorium, Upminster on Friday 3rd August 2012. The funeral will commence at 10:40am and will be followed by refreshments at Tilbury Community Centre.

“Michael’s family have requested for gifts of flowers to be made only by family members. Anyone else wishing to provide a gift are requested to make a donation to either the British Heart Foundation or Tilbury Band.

“Could anyone wishing to attend the funeral please confirm with Tilbury Band Secretary Andrea Lewis by Tuesday 31st July 2012. Andrea is available by phone on 07733 234622 or can be contacted via the band website.

“There will also be an opportunity to remember Michael through the playing of music on the day.”

  1. My condolences unto the Foreman family. I played with both brothers in Tilbury Band during the 1980’s and found them both Gentlemen.
