HUNDREDS OF Thurrock residents have taken up the chance of a lifetime and visited the Olympics.
Grays Athletic stalwart, Chris Jones booked the two weeks off work and has been visiting a number of venues.
Chris said: “I went to the football at Wembley on Saturday and the Aquatics Centre in the park on Monday.
“Both experiences have been brilliant. I have never been to see a swimming event but this is a once in a lifetime experience.
Whilst Palmer’s College student and international 400 metre hurdler, Hayley McLean has also been taking in the olympic experience.
Hayley said: “I have been to Wimbledon to see the Tennis. It was great. I saw Roger Federer, Serenna williams and Anna Keovathong.
“On Friday, I will be at the athletics for the first session. Plus UK Athletics have given me tickets for Monday nights session which includes the womens 400 metre hurdles final.”
Hayley hopes to be at the next Olympics in Rio in 2016.
Tilbury councillor Lynn Worrall headed to the 02 to enjoy the gymnastics.
Lynn said: “It was pot luck with the ballot so I am just so happy to see sport in London.
“I have been so impressed with the standard and the organisation.”
Lynn also went to the Beach Volleyball at Horseguards Parade on Tuesday night.










I went to the Excel Centre to watch the Wrestling Sunday morning.
Upminster to Limehouse St great, and the DLR to Custom House outside the Excel.

I’ve been lucky to get several tickets, and so far it’s been an excellent all round experience. The dreaded security has been simple, efficient and friendly – can’t fault it
