Street Reps go on a ‘Walkabout’ in Tilbury

A number of issues were mentioned from overgrown trees and bushes, general highways and grounds maintenance and parking in front of gardens which has caused damage to the grass verges and pathways.

Raymond Smith, 61, a street rep from Sullivan Road who attending the day said, “If more people volunteered to be street reps then we would have a bigger voice to make changes and improve our environment and we would all be happier and healthier. So many people complain but don’t want to do anything about it”

A follow up meeting has been planned to take place in October where street reps in Tilbury will be updated on the progress of these issues that were discussed.

If you are interested in getting involved in being a Street Rep you can find further information as well as how to register by visiting the Housing section on the Thurrock Council website or by contacting your local housing office.
