Young people aged 11 to 19 will be kept busy this month as the Urban Games will be coming to Thurrock on Sunday September 23rd.
From noon to 4pm at Blackshots playing fields in Grays youngsters will be able to watch demonstrations and take part in activities including freestyle football, DJ workshops, street dancing, skateboarding, BMX, basketball and cheerleading.
The Urban Games events have been a success in other parts of Essex and aim to bring young people together through the activities on offer.
Thurrock Council’s portfolio holder for communities, Cllr Lynn Worrall said: “This should be a great day with different performances and activities for young people to enjoy. There will also be different information for young people on services that are available locally. It’s all free of charge and I urge young people to come along and get involved.”
Chair of the Thurrock Youth Cabinet, Faizal Akindele said: “I think the Thurrock Urban Games is a great opportunity for the youth of Thurrock to come together. It will be a great chance for them to explore and learn new talents, such as street basketball and football. It’s going to be an excellent event with good activities and excellent performers.”
