Mayor supports Love in a Box at Grays Shopping Centre

GRAYS Shopping Centre is collecting boxes for the armed forces as a joint initiative with Help the Heroes, a UK Charity.

Shoppers are being asked to fill empty an empty shoe box with everyday items such as deodorant, sweets, razors and wet wipes. The boxes will then be sent to the UK’s brave service men and women around the globe including Afghanistan.

The Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Yash Gupta MBE, said: “Please show your appreciation to our armed forces for all their hard work by making this simple donation. I urge all Thurrock residents, young and old to get involved and fill as many shoe boxes as possible.”

Keith Evans, Grays Shopping Centre Manager said: “So far 200 shoe boxes have been collected and we encourage residents to support this selfless cause.”

You can drop your box off at the centre management, the Operation Shoe Box display in the mall or Exit Shoes in the shopping centre. Remember to tape two £1 coins to the lid to aid delivery expenses and don’t forget, the most important item you is your personal message.

A full list of items for the shoe boxes can be found on the Grays Shopping Centre website

  1. We ran a similar project at work and this was very popular, this is a great thing to get involved with and shows your appreciation for our serving troops.
