LAKESIDE officially opened its free Santa’s grotto last week with a festive launch event attended by hundreds of families. On 1st November, Lakeside was transformed into a winter wonderland full of living baubles, elves and, of course, Santa himself!
Over 500 children lined the parade route to watch Santa and his elves – plus a whole host of other Christmas characters – spread some festive magic at Lakeside and officially open the free grotto for the season.
400 children visited Santa in his Lakeside grotto on its opening day, each receiving a free gift and enjoying a new 3D film that has been specially created for the shopping centre.
Visitors to Lakeside on 1st November also took part in a photo challenge which saw them hunting down activities in different locations around the centre to claim stamps that would earn them entry into a grand prize draw to win a hamper crammed full of toys.
Paul Lancaster, Lakeside’s General Manager, says: “Christmas arrived at Lakeside in style last week and we’re delighted that so many families were here to share it with us. Now that the grotto is open for the season, we’re hoping that tens of thousands of children choose to see Santa for free here at Lakeside, just like they did last year.”
The grotto is open every day right up until Friday 24th December and families can pre-book their magical grotto experience online at www.lakeside.uk.com/grotto.
