Grays Wood Inferno: Morning traffic chaos as questions raised over “serial arsonist”.

TRAFFIC WAS at a standstill as the mopping up operation took place after the massive fire in Stanley Road, Grays on Tuesday night.

The fire swept through Grays Wood supplies at just after 6pm.

By Tuesday morning, Stanley Road remained closed with some traffic was being diverted either up Orsett Road, around to Bridge Road and then into Argent Street.

Meanwhile, the police investigation into the fire has begun.

With the disused Tilbury leisure burning down two weeks ago, followed on November 5th by the attacks on two lorries in Purfleet Industrial park in Aveley; a builders yard in Watson Close in Grays and then Grays Beach Park Cafe, some may question whether this is the work of a serial arsonist(s).

There has been praise for the Essex Fire and Rescue Service for their handling of the fire as well as Thurrock Council management for their calm deployment of traffic management and incident procedures throughout the fire.
