Stanford head determined to meet challenges of Ofsted report

THE HEAD of Stanford-le-Hope primary has pledged to come fighting back after a recent Ofsted report demanded that the Copland Road school must improve.

In a joint statement with the governors, headteacher, Linda Moore said:

“As the report states the headteacher and governors are committed to building on the school’s recent successes to accelerate improvements so that the school can improve even further in the future.

“We are pleased the report recognises many of our strengths and confirms our children continue to make progress in maths and English across the school .

The report says there has been an improvement in the achievements of pupils who had been doing less well in the past and recognises the pupils’ behaviour and safety in the school is a strength, along with the quality of marking.

The performance of our children in the new, year 1 Phonics screening was better than the national results, said the inspectors.

“However, this report is another challenge for the school, but we are convinced that – with the support of the staff and governors – we can and will meet it.”
