Thurrock shoppers flock to Lakeside

By Courtney Savage

THURROCK shoppers have flocked to Lakeside to bag themselves a Boxing Day bargain.

They started early and headed to many of the stores.

It was very very busy at House of Fraser and Next, where hundreds of shoppers were seen leaving the store laden with bags.

Twitter was abuzz with people sharing their Lakeside experiences.

Realerthanmost was delighted with a Ralph Lauren jumper bargain whilst 5thJan tweeted that they had purchased a 40 inch TV for £40.

Although some people were expressing their frustration that no trains were running to Chafford Hundred station.

By midday, the car parks were packed but moving.

  1. What a sad reflection of our consumer driven society,I like a bargain but,Xmas is a time to celebrate with family and friends not get in the car and go shopping!!

I fully expect within the next 10 years or so Lakeside and other large shopping centres will be open on Xmas day, another nail in the coffin of the traditional Xmas.
