LOCAL school children from Tudor Court Primary school in Grays have raised £1035 in support of Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
The children raised the wonderful sum by taking part in Christmas concerts during December. A total of eighteen classes took part and between them completed a marathon 12 concert performances. Staff organized bucket collections at the end of each performance and parents and friends dug deep and gave generously. Staff also played their part to help boost the total by making donations to the charity instead of sending Christmas cards.
Peter Hall, Little Havens Community Fundraiser went along to the school to receive the donation at two special assemblies on Tuesday 15th January, and to thank all the children and staff in person. Peter said, “ We are so grateful to pupils, staff and parents who helped to raise such a fantastic sum for Little Havens. It was a pleasure to be able to visit the school to say thank you in person– and to share a little about what makes Little Havens such a special place and just how much their donation will help.”
Peter went on to say, “Little Havens provides free specialist respite and end-of-life care for seriously ill children and their families across Essex. We don’t charge a penny for our care, so without gifts from our supporters, and support from schools like Tudor Court Primary, Little Havens simply couldn’t exist “
Melanie Dean, Acting Head of Tudor Court Primary School said, “ I am absolutely thrilled that our school concerts were such a great success and raised such a large sum for Little Havens. The charity is very close to our hearts and we wanted to show our support for the great work they do caring for children and families in the community. Our children had a great time taking part in the concerts and it was lovely to see their efforts rewarded with the amount of money raised. I would also like to thank parents for their generosity and my staff team for all their hard work, support and encouragement “.
Schools are being encouraged to support Little Havens through fundraising at their school. To find out more about Little Havens and how you can support their care please visit, www.havenshospices.org.uk or call Peter Hall on 07891 514182.
Keep this extremely genenerous gesture quiet if I was you! Mr. Gove will question why is a ‘Satisfactory’ School wasting valuable time on such ‘nonsense’, when there are ‘qualifications’ to be gained, results to be achieved and targets to be met!!!
