Football: Tough day for Thurrock against runaway leaders

Ryman Premier Division
Thurrock 0 v 3 Whitehawk
at Ship Lane

Bill Robinson from Ship Lane……

A disappointing result but against perhaps the best side to have been to Ship Lane this season it was a fair result.

Thurrock started well and could have taken the lead in the first minute but for Whitehawk keeper clawing away on the goal line.

But it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Charlie Losaso collected the ball on the edge of the box and fired home a splendid low shot that crept into the corner of the net.

Thurrock responded well and looked as if they could get back into the game but some poor defending allowed Whitehawk to seal the victory with two quick goals on 36 and 40 minutes.

James Fraser scored the second when he ran onto a low cross from the right provided by Michael Malcom and he slid in to poke the ball home from three yards.

The third and final goal came once again from a move down the right flank, this time it was Charlie Henry who sent over a fine cross which found Danny Mills unmarked and he power headed the ball home from about 8 yards.

The second half became a non event, Whitehawk where happy with the three goals and played a game of containment and as much as Thurrock tried they could not find a way thought the solid Whitehawk defence.
