PRESIDENT Gill Morris welcomed speaker David Tweedle Who came to give a talk and a Taste of India.
David told of his growing up in India and explained how the different groups of people ate different foods. Tea wasn’t drunk in India until 1936 and surprisingly it was the English that brought this custom to the country.
In some area coffee and milk were the main beverages. Explorers and travellers from Portugal and Muslims countries came to India who also influenced the different way the food changed each bringing fruits and spices to add to the flavour.
David made India and its colourful culture come alive with his inspiring talk and he ended with preparing some tasty Bakora snacks, this was a very enjoyable evening.
A report was entered on the County Annual meeting.
Members were asked if anyone would be prepared to go into a school to teach the children how to knit.
Joanne Phillips has arranged for a welcome break for members to see The Full Monty at the Cliffs Pavilion Theatre in May.
