Football: All down to last week for relegation threatened Thurrock

Ryman League Premier Division

Kingstonian 1 v 0 Thurrock

Bill Robinson at Kingsmeadow

A MASSIVE game for Thurrock’s future in this division and for 82 minutes all was ok, but when Kingstonian snatched a winning goal just seven minutes from time the effect of other teams around them picking up points was evident and not good.

The match never really came alive, Kingstonian where lethargic in approach and the solid Thurrock back four looked like holding out.

But at the other end Thurrock could not use their greater possession to any advantage, trying to created any real chance of scoring seemed impossible.

During the second half it looked like both teams had settled for a draw which would suit Thurrock as every point is invaluable.

Danny Green came had the best chance to open the scoring in the 75th minute when the ball fell to his feet just 6 yards from goal, but his shot flew against the cross bar.

Kingstonian where being restricted to long range efforts at goal and on 83 minutes when they broke into the

Thurrock half and we saw a 25 yard effort well saved by Thurrock keeper Wil Viner, unfortunately he was unable to hold the ball and it rolled out to Lewes Taylor to blast home from close range.

Dropping down to fourth from bottom Thurrock need a win in their last two games to have any chance of avoiding relegation.

Team: Wil Viner, Ritchie Jones, Mark Oynemah, Jack Jefferies, Matt Turpin, Stuart Thurgood, Danny Green, Lewwis Spence, Ben Smith, Charlie Stimson, Harry Honesty
