Howard Tenens “lorry park” application back on the table

A CONTROVERSIAL planning application at the Howard Tenens in Stifford Road in South Ockendon is back on the table.

The application seeks retrospective, temporary permission for the use of land for open storage and storage and swapping of articulated HGVs cab units and trailers.

A new improved access onto Stifford Road is proposed and landscaping on land outside the Major Developed Site (MDS) also forms part of the proposals.

Council officers are recommending that the application be refused.

The application will be heard on Thursday May 9th at the council chamber in New Road, Grays

    Howard Tenens
Small bit of advice to the consultant of Howard Thames don’t worry about all the planning don’t worry about environmental studies don’t worry about 106 money just change the company name to ICG Limited and don’t forget your donation to thurrock Tory association, oh and one other thing you have to sort them out a office to work from for nothing and give joy Redsell a big kiss.

  2. Isnt this the application from a while back, when all the residents wanted Tenens to continue as they would be providing a new entrance which was not overlooking their properties, but the 3 Belhus councillors refused to help them? I wonder what the residents who live near this site think? and I hope they will be attending the planning meeting to make their views known.

  3. Chickenfeed what possible difference will be made if the residents who live near this application, decide to make an appearance at the planning meeting, I myself have seen numerous residents turn up at planning meetings and express their position and their concerns only to be overridden by Thurrock planning officers, who incidentally are only there to point out planning procedure and policy and voice their [recommendations]

This is clearly not the case at Thurrock where officers think they input is policy and until Thurrock Council planning Department makes that point clearly to the officers, you will have continuing conflict between officers and planning committee members who I’m afraid sometimes at the expense of officers, are treated little more than puppets

When planning committee members make a decision at other councils .I’ve noticed the officers do their job and assist the members and if this doesn’t fit in with the officers recommendations the planning members nine times out of 10 override the officers and the officers accommodate the planning members of the committee ,remember these ladies and gentlemen are elected and then chosen to sit on the committee , to listen to representations ,concerns needs and feelings of the people who voted them into that position, the officer is there to recommend and recommend only after all you cannot expect an officer especially, if he comes from outside the Borough to be as passionate as members who live within the Borough and represent their constituents, but as I have said above it is not that way in Thurrock where pencil neck officers do exactly whatever they want

  4. Thanks for putting me straight “albert” but wouldn’t you agree that if officers are doing as they please then the current administration should be clipping their wings and showing who is in charge? Or do you think as I do that the current lot are weak and ineffective and will do anything for a quiet life? and the fact that residents attending and speaking on planning issues makes no difference, do you not agree that it makes a mockery of the whole council set up that Comrade Kent and his cabinet should be dealing with?

Dear chickenfeed I think you have made an excellent point, however I believe that due to the slim majority at Thurrock Council,I believe it could be very awkward for Labour to make any sweeping changes to any Department within the Council at the moment, had Labour three or four more members elected,

I believe Kent would have been more bullish in he’s overall attitude into problems of this kind. And by no way letting Kent off the hook, that is my interpretation of the situation at present at Thurrock Council
