Swimming: Hobson sent to Coventry and brings back Gold

Saturday 18 May, saw Golden Girl Georgia Hobson compete in the Independent School Association’s 40th Annual National Swimming Championships in Coventry.

Georgia, a Thurrock Swimming Club National Age Group swimmer, competed in the gala representing East Anglia, previously representing St Johns School, Billericay in the heats back in November.

On a day packed of events, Georgia competed in the 4 x 50m individual medley relay in which she swam the butterfly leg and the 4 x 50m freestyle relay. Georgia’s individual races were the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly.

Bringing medals home to Essex Georgia managed to bag Bronze in both the medley relay and freestyle relay, but excelled in the individual freestyle and individual butterfly collecting Silver and Gold medals respectively.

Not to be content with four medals, Georgia broke the Independent School Association National record for the 50m butterfly in a time of 33.94 and also PB’d in the freestyle with a time of 30.94.

Georgia will now resume her club training where she is part of Thurrock Swimming Club’s National Age Group Squad, where she is now preparing for the East Regional Championships to be held in Norwich over the first two weekends in June.
