STAFF at DHL in West Thurrock have been packing their days full of fundraising for Little Havens Hospice delivering over £1,800 in donations.
The team based at the Tunnel Estate in Weston Avenue has been busy fundraising since Christmas last year and recently presented a cheque to the children’s hospice for over £900 which will be match funded by the company. Fundraising has included staff members Glenn Swanson, and Maxine Lockwood, baking cakes for their colleagues, a balloon release in memory and celebration of loved ones and the chefs prepared specially themed meals in the staff restaurant for donations to the hospice which cares for children from across Essex who have a life-limiting illness.
Pearl Burrows, from DHL had this to say, ” We had a wonderful time fundraising for Little Havens, especially baking and eating the cakes! We are delighted to be able to continue to fundraise and show our support for the amazing care that Little Havens provides. It is a cause very close to all of our hearts here at DHL West Thurrock, and we aim to continue to raise as much as possible for the charity over the coming months.”
The company also donated a selection of brand new dressing up clothes for the children and their siblings at Little Havens. Although based in Thundersley, Little Havens Hospice cares for children from across Essex who have an illness which could shorten their life and relies on kind donations from the community.
Little Havens Community Fundraiser, Peter Hall, visited DHL to receive their latest donation and said, “We are really grateful to Pearl, Maxine, Glenn and all the team at DHL West Thurrock for their amazing and generous support. They certainly know how to put the fun into their fundraising! Whether we care for a child for years, months, weeks or even days, we make a real difference to their life but that simply wouldn’t be possible without people like the staff at DHL fundraising for us.
