Lots of chances to saddle up on National Bike Week

PEOPLE are being invited to get on their bikes and take part in this year’s national Bike Week between Saturday, 15 and Sunday, 23 June.

Thurrock Council together with TRUP (Thurrock Re-Use Partnership) and Sustrans – a national charity – have organised several free cycling events, from those aimed at families to seasoned cyclists and even those who have never cycled before.

Through the week there will be organised cycle rides as well as cycle maintenance courses and free bicycle checks.

New for this year is the HGV Awareness Day where people will be able to get behind an HGV’s steering wheel to see what it’s like from a lorry drivers’ perspective, highlighting the blind spots and how cyclists, pedestrians and cars are totally invisible at certain points to a driver of an HGV.
