FORMER Ormiston Park student, Alex Pritchard is preparing for his England bow in what is the biggest stage for a player of his age.
The Tottenham Hotspur forward was picked by Peter Taylor for the U20 World Cup last month, his first England call-up at any level reports FA.Com.
The former Aveley resident told TheFA.com: “It’s just a great honour to get my first call-up for my country, especially for a World Cup.
“It’s a big tournament and I remember watching the last one in Colombia in 2011.
“A few of my mates played in that one, so I was watching it back home and it looked well viewed with big crowds and good teams.
“I spoke to Adam Smith (Spurs team-mate who played in 2011) and a few of the other boys about it.
“They all said that it’s a great experience for your career and it can help kick-start your career.
“I’m just really looking forward to it and can hopefully get some games.”
Pritchard, 20, started his career at White Hart Lane and broke through their Academy ranks.
With first-team chances limited, he impressed in the Championship last season during a loan spell with Peterborough United.
And it’s that form which caught Head Coach Taylor’s eye and led to his World Cup call-up.
