Bulphan Women’s Institute: July report

By Janet McCheyne

THIS month, several of our members have been enjoying the hospitality of neighbouring WIs, attending parties hosted by Aveley WI (with a 40’s theme), North Stifford WI (very lavish buffet), West Tilbury WI (a floral theme), Millwood WI (a silver theme) and Fobbing & Corringham WI.

Our July meeting itself was well-attended, including visitor Sherry Ridler, but unfortunately excluding our booked speaker, Tracy Mackness, owner of Giggly Pig, who thought she was booked for the following evening! However, this provided us with the opportunity to complete a member survey, which we do every 3 or 4 years, and to hear all about Denise’s experience of playing a member of a skinhead gang in an arts film shot at Coalhouse Fort, East Tilbury.

Sally has arranged a pantomime tea outing to Brick Lane Music Hall for 28th January (yes – we do have to book that far ahead!), and a walk round the new wildlife centre at Mucking on 20th August.

Our August meeting will be held at Noke Hall Farm – bring a folding chair with you. It will be a relaxed evening with a chance to get to know each other better.
