THREE Essex grassroots clubs are helping to make a difference overseas through donations of football kit to communities in Kenya as part of the Taking Football to Africa and Beyond Appeal, which is celebrating 20 years of delivering football equipment around the world.

Local clubs Buckhurst Hill, Hullbridge Sports and South Ockendon-based County Park are amongst those who have contributed kit and equipment to the campaign. Their generosity and commitment are using football as a force for good, making an impact both locally and around the world.

Buckhurst Hill donated kit to Mumias Benzel School, where it is now being used by pupils. Madam Mildred from the school thanked the club for their support and said the kit has been put to excellent use. Hullbridge Sports donated kit to Leeds Premier School in Bungoma County, Western Kenya. The school hope to establish a football academy for boys and girls from nearby villages, with the club looking at ways to support future equipment needs, including football boots.

Meanwhile, kit donated by County Park continues to benefit former players in the Kitengela township, where it is supporting those still involved in football as players and coaches. The donations form part of the work of Taking Football to Africa and Beyond, who have delivered more than 466,000 items of football kit and equipment to communities in 72 countries since 2006.

The Essex County FA would like to congratulate these three clubs for their support of an excellent charitable cause. Find out more about how your club can donate by calling Neil on 07903 135508 or Mark on 07800 603478, or via E-Mail at [email protected].
