TWO THURROCK T-Birds are heading off to the USA this summer to represent England in a four nation tournament.
21-year-old Emily Scott has been playing rugby all her life, starting as a mini with Stanford le hope RFC. She cut her teeth with the boys!
By 13 she was easily one of the strongest in the team with a ferocious tackle .
She then joined the girls game and had several successful years with BazFord RFC before moving to Welwyn RFC
Recognised early by the RFU talent scouts through the TDG system she was capped at U20 level for 2 years!
At senior level she joined Thurrock’s T-Birds who she has had a long association with, and immediately had an impact, helping them to The Premiership!
Last seasons six nations saw her capped for the senior England side and topped of a great campaign with a debut try!
Having just graduated from Brunei university with a 2:1 in sports science she will be looking for a career in events management after the Nations Cup!

Mercedes was a successful schoolgirl athlete, competing at English schools in the shot putt. She took up rugby at college with Thurrock and as a born leader quickly became voted as Captain, a post she has held ever since helping the team she loves to 5 promotions and culminating in promotion to The Premiership!
A PE teacher with William Edwards school in Grays she has delivered her love of the ethos of rugby to the girls of Thurrock, with William Edwards now competing regularly at Regional level and the Invention of Girls section at TRFC who are affectionally known as The T-Chicks!!
This season Mercedes, with the view of putting Thurrock on the map, got selected for the London and South East divisional team where she was captain, she then was captain for the ‘super 2’s ‘ England trial where head coach Gary Street selected her for this nations cup to the USA.
