CAN you believe a year ago we were all watching the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and getting excited about the Team GB performance?

This year, to help rekindle that Olympic fever and encourage local people to get active and keep the kids busy during the school holidays, Impulse Leisure will be offering free activities, sports and swim sessions for everyone.

On Saturday 27th July & Sunday 28th July, Impulse Leisure are offering FREE* swimming for kids under eight at Blackshots, Corringham and Belhus Park as part of the Change4Life scheme.

‘While it’s great to relax after a long school year, it’s also important to make sure that kids stay active during the holidays – and the longer days are the perfect time for adults to join in and give something new a try, too,’ says Karl Hayes, Group Operations Manager. ‘Kids aged five to 16 need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity that gets their heart beating faster than usual, and they need to do it every day to burn off calories and prevent them storing up excess fat. So why not take advantage of our free sessions and make sure this summer is a happy and healthy one?’

To commemorate the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Games, Impulse Leisure will run a second programme of free family-friendly activities on 7th September, including ‘Super Saturday’, when taster exercise classes will run all day for members and non-members to try at all Impulse Leisure Centres in Thurrock and West Sussex.
