Ormiston teacher heading to Tanzania

THIS August, Miss Richardson, a languages teacher at Ormiston Park Academy, will be travelling to Tanzania with a group of UK teachers to deliver Limited Resource Teacher Training (LRTT).

In rural Tanzania the average school teacher earns just $5 per day. These teachers do not have the benefit of teacher training enjoyed by teachers in the UK, and teach classes of sometimes over 60 students. Yet for the students, a quality education is their only way out of poverty.

In classrooms where resources are extremely limited, LRTT workshops will equip teachers to teach great lessons every day with just chalk, talk and exercise books.

Through a non-uniform day, and money raised amongst staff and students, OPA is supporting the training of 150 Tanzanian teachers who will collectively impact on the life opportunities of thousands of students next year alone.
