Sleepless night for Stanford residents as roadworks continue through the night.

HUNDREDS OF STANFORD residents endured a sleepless night as the road works at the Manorway rumbled late into the night.

J Murphy and Son spent the night, demolishing the Stanford flyover as part of the next round of improvements that will lead to a much wider and efficient road leading to DP World London Gateway.

But that was not much compensation to the residents as many seemed to have had a terrible nights sleep. And many have gone straight onto facebook to tell J Murphy and Son, exactly what they think.

A number of streets received a letter informing them of the work but the reverberations were heard for miles.

This, coupled with the fire at the Rio recycling plant in Stanford Road, Orsett led to a lot of angry people on Saturday morning.

Jo Hymas said: “It looks like I will soon be living near a motorway and not the Manorway.”

Lisa Palmer: “I didn’t wake up during the storm last week but have woken up due to this.”

Dawn Brampton: “I live near St Clere’s school (Butts Lane) and can hear it from there!”
