Ryman Div One North
Thurrock 4 v 1 Brentwood
THE first forty five minutes was very mediocre with neither keeper having to do more than feeding the ball out to their defence. With the greater part of attacks breaking down in midfield.
Thurrock eventually opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with an own goal fro the Brentwood skipper James Love.
The goal came with a cross from the right by Loui Hazelwood, he drove the cross in low and hard and with Charlie Stimson on his shoulder James Love could do nothing but deflect the ball into his own net from just a yard out.
The second half saw Brentwood start the stronger pushing men forward looking for an equaliser, the consequence was it allowed Thurrock to attack on the break.
On two such occasions Thurrock hit the woodwork, first a cross from Louis Hazelwood which found the head of Charlie Stimson and the ball came back into play after hitting the base of the post, the second occasion was a Loui Hazelwood shot from the edge of the box and it thumped against the post with the keeper stranded.
On 62 mins Louis Hazelwood made up for his previous effort by taking a direct fre kick from 22yards out and he curled it straight into the top corner of the net giving the keeper no chance.
Brentwood responded just 8mins later reducing the deficit by one when Ryan Strokes stroked home a bouncing ball from a Brentwood corner.
Thurrock held on for the remaining twenty minutes despite Brentwood having two chances first with Petric Elbi then Sos Yno, both wasted the opportunity when one on one with just the keeper to beat.
Thurrock sealed the win in added time when Jordan Clark fired home a long range shot beating the keeper high into the roof of the net, and two minutes later supplied the cross for Charlie Stimson to head home the fourth.
