A NEW organisation for enterprising women in the Thurrock area is launching on 10 October 2013 at Orsett Hall Hotel.
Jo Curtis, an Essex-based entrepreneur who ran her own successful wedding photography business and now runs the hugely popular WIBN (Women in Business Network) groups in Billericay, Brentwood, Leigh-on-Sea and Southend is launching the new group in Thurrock.
Jo says “As a business woman who has worked as an employee in large corporates and is now self-employed, I understand the challenges women face in today’s economy. My aim and that of the Women in Business Network is to share solutions, create partnerships and build new opportunities. I’m really looking forward to meeting fellow businesswomen in Thurrock and unlocking their potential in what is an all too often overlooked part of the county.”
Members will benefit from monthly networking and development events. Jo adds: “Thurrock’s WIBN group will provide a positive opportunity for local businesswomen to look at fresh approaches to how they work, what their firm does well or less well and develop new ideas to benefit themselves and their customers. Women talking to each other in a relaxed environment allows ideas to flow and provides social support – it is incredibly inspiring.”
A warm welcome is guaranteed and the format of each event is designed to be relaxed and informal, as Jo explains:
“We meet once a month at lunchtime. The meetings are structured and effective, whilst also being supportive and friendly. Everyone is in the same boat, so you’ll find the meetings are always really welcoming -even if you are feeling a little nervous about walking into a room full of strangers!”
The launch of the Thurrock Women in Business Network is being held on Thursday 10 October at the Orsett Hall Hotel, Orsett from midday until 2pm. Spaces are limited to one profession per business category and are priced at just £24 per person (price includes lunch and refreshments).
