Social worker nominated for her outstanding work with children

THURROCKsocwork Council employee Emma Burns has been selected as a finalist in the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2013 as a result of her outstanding work with children.

Nominated for the Children’s Social Worker of the Year, Emma will find out if she has won at the official award ceremony which will take place at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday 29 November.

There are 49 finalists across eleven categories and winners from each category will compete against each other to be named the overall “Social Worker of the Year 2013.”

Barbara Foster, Thurrock Council’s Head of Care and Targeted Outcomes said: “I am so proud of Emma and the children’s social work team at the council.

“Emma and the team do so much and to be recognised at a national level by the industry is really appreciated. Emma is a very modest person who is committed to making a difference and improving the lives of the children she works with.”
