THURROCK Conservatives have continued to press the under-fire Labour administration over the on-going bin collection debacle.

Shadow portfolio holder, cllr Simon Wootton pressed council leader John Kent on a number of issues at a meeting of the full council on Wednesday night (Oct 23rd).

Cllr Kent revealed that the senior officer in charge of the bin restructure had “Returned to public protection”.

Cllr Kent further revealed that Barking and Dagenham officers would be replacing Ms McGill.

YT tried to check how the “missed bin collection” rates were getting on but they appeared to have disappeared from the new Thurrock Council website.

  1. I had said in previous comments the person who should be axed for this mess is the officer in charge. Now Ms McGill has gone back to Public Protection and Thurrock Council have had to bring in officers from another Borough to try and clear up the havoc and mess she has left behind.

  2. This story just gets worse, does this mean that nobody on the current TBC council is capable of running one of the major public services so they have to put it out to a London borough to run.

What a disgrace by the leadership of this council, it is truly beyond belief that this cannot be handled correctly by the personnel on his cabinet.

  3. Those Stifford Clays voters must be kicking them selfs now letting Comrade Kent and his cronies keep control of Thurrock Council–You were warned about the London Borough before the Local election and the Rubbish Collection how could you let them still get away with this fiasco after all these months

  4. Merging of council services seems to be the future. Suffolk and Norfolk County Council have just done so, although from one being Labour controlled and the other Tory. Also even their police forces are now sharing resources.

  5. The cynical may question if Ms McGill was deliberately employed in this post so she could fail and John Kent bring in the cavalry from Barking and Dagenham to sort out this mess.

24 years working in Local Government makes me think there is more to this story than we will ever know.
