THE
former allotment site at Blackshots has been given a new lease of life by the Association of Thurrock Allotments along with the Friends of Blackshots group and Thurrock Council
Now 60 new allotments have been laid out on site and 11 of them are still waiting for new owners.
Cllr Victoria Holloway, portfolio holder for Environment said: “This is a brilliant example of residents and the council all working together to create an important resource for the community.
“I know it seems odd to get an allotment now, out of season, but it is a perfect opportunity to get the plot ready for spring and look forward to growing your own vegetables and fruit next year.
“There is a long waiting list for allotments in Thurrock and I know these last few at Blackshots will be snapped up.”
