THIS year’s annual Thurrock Business Conference is being held next Wednesday (20 November) at the Civic Hall, Blackshots, Grays.
The event – between 8am and 11.30am – is being held during Global Entrepreneurship Week and has the theme Take A Step Forward.
Keynote speaker will be Fraser Doherty, the founder of SuperJam, the 100 per cent fruit jam company which he started aged 14 using his gran’s recipes.
Since then, SuperJam has grown to supply over 2,000 supermarkets around the world and selling millions of jars along the way.
Thurrock’s Next Top Boss will also be on the agenda, showcasing support for Thurrock’s young people to become the leaders and managers of the future. It will also allow partners to tell their stories of working with the borough’s young people as well as some past participants telling of their experiences, ambitions and achievements.
The conference will also involve eight sixth formers from the Ockendon School, to support the event and take part in the conference.
The zero per cent business support lending scheme TIGER is another focus for the conference, with Brett Smallcombe of LG Networks talking about the Thurrock TIGER Approval Panel and Barry Mead, Vortex, talking about how the £240,000 loan his firm received will help business.
Other speakers include Thurrock Council Leader, Cllr John Kent, and chief executive Graham Farrant, who will be talking about his priorities as well as facilitating the main voting session.
There will be more than 20 organisations exhibiting at the free event which includes breakfast and superb networking opportunities. There are still some places available and to book go online to thurrockbusinessconference2013.eventbrite.com
