Metcalfe pledges to look at crime figures (Doyle-Price still pleading the fifth)

SOUTH BASILDON and East Thurrock MP, Stephen Metcalfe has pledged to look at crime figures for Thurrock.

This comes after it was revealed that only 6% of burglaries in Thurrock were solved in 2012-13.

Mr Metcalfe said: “Obviously on the face of it a solve rate of 6% is not good enough and we must all do more to raise this number.

“Our police do a great job as the fall in overall crime numbers show but, must remember, it is important to focus on what is important to people, such as burglary.

“I will be asking our local force what more we can do to raise the solve rate.

“For our part, the Government are focusing on getting more police out of the station and on to the street to improve visible policing; deter crime and hopefully improve detection rates.
