THE THEATRE company, Theatre Is, is no more.
Many will know of the work they had undertaken around the borough, especially in Tilbury.
Their imaginative productions and ambitious intent to get young people involved in the arts was always impressive.
A spokesperson said: “We’re writing to inform you that the Charity and Company THEATRE IS… is winding up.
“As you can imagine it is with great sadness that we say our goodbyes. However, with the funding landscape as it is we have found it difficult to sustain our ambitious and pioneering work.
“We have created a website www.theatreis.org to celebrate some of the projects we have created over the years and hope you will take some time to have a look at the site, and leave a comment on our comments page.
“Some of our Thurrock projects will continue under the management of the Gateway Academy, and the production of Freefall will be produced by Unit Twenty Three in 2014.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all who have supported and participated in our work over the years: without you, none of this would have been possible.”
